Challenged Persons - Whom Do We Mean ?
We mean child/individual who suffers from :
1. Cerebral Palsy.
2. Autism.
3. Mental Retardation.
4. Multiple Disabilities(a combination of any two or more of above conditions).
5. Mental Illness.
Irreversible Disorder
Cerebral Palsy or Autism or Mental Retardation or a combination of any two or more of such conditions are brain disorder, non-progressive, and permanent in nature thus irreversible. Mental Illness is a disease and may be reversible but of late it is found in many cases the problem is embedded permanently.

Autism
Autism is a brain disorder that typically affects a person’s ability to communicate, form relationships with others, and respond appropriately to the environment. Autistic disorder almost always develops before the age of three and is characterized by impaired verbal and non-verbal communication, social interaction, some form of repetitive and restricted stereotyped interest, ritual, or other behavior.
Medication can be recommended to treat specific symptoms such as seizures, hyperactivity, extreme mood changes, or self-injurious behaviors.
There is no cure for autism. Therapies and behavioral interventions are designed to remedy specific symptoms and can bring about substantial improvement.
Arindam Dutta is the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Ashis Dutta of 5B/2 Jagannath Ghosh Road, Kasba, Kolkata-700042.He was born on 11.01.1988 as first son of Dutta family, naturally there was flow of joy and nobody could recognize that Arindam is suffering from any disorder or disease. Doctors also certified as normal baby. But while Arindam was not responding to the call and did not express anything then also it was thought that some babies speak late age. Ultimately Arindam was diagnosed suffering from Autism with Mental retardation by NIMHANS, Bangalore.
Now Arindam is a grown up man of more than 21 years of age without any physical problem. He cannot communicate and express his daily needs. sometimes he becomes very much angry with himself and hurts him. But if he is attended properly then within few minutes he gets cool down. Arindam is having a sister and his parents are now more than 50 years of age and are unable to manage him. They frantically want to shift Arindam to a Residential Care Home for day to day management care but in vain.
Ashis Dutta is one of the Trustee Members of Arogya Sandhan Charitable Trust keenly desires to establish Residential Care Home for protection, care and management of his son.
Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy a brain-damaged disorder that affects movement as a result of an injury to the brain. There's no cure for cerebral palsy. However, there are plenty of treatments and therapies that can reduce the impact of the condition by easing symptoms such as spasticity, improving communication skills and finding other ways to do things. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy can all play an important part. Surgery is sometimes needed to correct any deformities that develop as a result of abnormal muscle development or function. Medication can reduce muscle hyperactivity and spasticity. The most common cause found in 80 per cent of cerebral palsy is something that damages the brain while the baby is growing in the womb. In a number of cases, it's difficult to pin down the exact cause with any certainty.
Ms. Mamata Banerjee is daughter of Mr. & Mrs Shyamal Banerjee of 171 Brahmoshamaj Road, Behala, Kolkata-700060.She took birth on 22.11.1993, Mamata did not cry immediately after birth otherwise she was fine. Her parents found that even after one year of her age she was unable to sit and to hold anything and later on she was detected as suffering from Cerebral palsy. Now she is grown up lady with full growth of womanhood but she cannot stand on her feet and cannot walk and cannot change her clothes. But she can communicate but her parents are of lower economic strata and her parents are concerned of her future physical protection in absence of themselves.
